basketball is officially over.
the Saints lost in the first round of
playoffs.
but had a GREAT season.
{and a great coach

Golf season has officially started.
Brett can’t wait to get in
round after round of
golf.
week 2 of {marathon} training
is complete.
nothing too exhausting.
getting nervous for
‘longer’ runs.
other than that we’re just
‘living the dream’
thankful for all we have.

One thing I love to do is
cook.
I used to be good at try a
new recipe concoction once a week.
life.
reality.
busyness.
all hit and that was not the case.
this weekend I deiced
to change that.
just add it to our
“plate”
.coaching.
.marathon training.
.Master Classes.
.working full time.
.new ‘recipe’ once a week.
.perfect.
although I did not use a recipe
I decided to take a stab at
Stuffed Peppers!
{yes, mom stuffed peppers}
‘the filling’
{browned} Ground turkey with Taco Seasoning
1 can of black beans
1 can of corn
1 can of diced tomatoes with green chilies
{cooked} rice
mixed everything together
stuffed the bad boys
cook at 350*
30 minutes.

bad news first.
We were suppose to have visitors this weekend.
Brett sister & her husband were suppose to come
but then the flu hit
{or some illness}
kept them from coming 
a ‘snow day’ in cali?
I know you think I’m crazy.
We had already had scheduled Friday off from work.

We declared a SoCal Mertens’ Snow Day!
and let me tell you
it was
ah-mazing.
started with the Today Show
{my.favorite.}
Breakfast at the Sugar Shack.
{another.fav.only.my.second.time.}
a walk along huntington beach.
we came home picked up Bop
for her ‘snow day’
the dog bark
dreaming she could run with the big dogs.
after running around for a little bit
it was home for an afternoon full of
napping.
While we LOVED our ‘snow day’
we missed our visitors.
hopefully they’ll be able to make it out here soon.
{and are feeling better}
